Participants learn to navigate difficult conversations, reflect on privilege and intersectionality, and create environments where all voices are valued. The training encourages self-awareness and accountability, equipping leaders to foster inclusivity and implement these principles in their roles.

  • DEIB: Defining Terms and Steps
    Define diversity as a mix of visible and invisible traits, equity as fair treatment, inclusion as creating safe, valued spaces, and belonging as fostering deep connection. Outline steps to begin DEIB work, including awareness-building and inclusive policy creation.
  • Overt vs. Covert Racism, Microaggressions, and Implicit Bias
    Contrast overt, explicit racism with covert, systemic racism. Define microaggressions and implicit biases, offering strategies to combat them, like slowing decision-making and promoting diverse perspectives.
  • Navigating Sensitive Conversations 
    Provide skills for addressing race and bias with emotional intelligence. Emphasize validating experiences, using “I” statements, and embracing discomfort as part of growth.
  • Intersectionality and Action 
    Explain how overlapping identities impact experiences of privilege and oppression. Move beyond performative actions by amplifying marginalized voices and implementing inclusive practices.

Requirements

Minimum of a Master's Degree in a mental health or related field; or be a student in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field. 

In Low- and Middle-Income Countries, a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is required.

Clara Anderson Sainte
LCSW
Clara Anderson Sainte is a licensed clinical social worker with expertise in grief and loss, chronic illness, cancer, depression, anxiety and trauma. She is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and trained as a Grief Recovery Specialist. 

Clara believes therapy is most effective when individuals can be their authentic selves, a principle that guides her practice. She ensures her clients feel understood and heard, creating a supportive and inclusive environment. Her private practice welcomes adults of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, religious or spiritual beliefs and body types of abilities. Clara's clients appreciate her relatable approach of implementing humor and sarcasm in her sessions as they navigate complex and heavy issues. 

In addition to her private practice, Clara serves her community in multiple roles. She is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare and a clinical social work supervisor. She also works as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consultant and Continuing Education Coach. Her past roles includes serving as the 6th District Commissioner on Kansas City's LGBTQ Commission, Chair of Children's Mercy's Equity & Diversity Council, board member for Big Brother Big Sisters KC DEI Board and volunteer Big, board member of KC Center for Inclusion Board of Directors, Vice Chair of Mental Health America of the Heartland Board of Directors, and healthcare instructor at Johnson County Community College. 
Vladmir Sainte
LCSW
Vladimir Sainte, LCSW has over a decade of experience as a licensed clinical social worker and has made significant contributions to the Kansas City community through his work as a former child therapist and children's book author. Mr. Sainte currently serves as a Senior Project Manager at University Health Behavioral Health, leveraging his expertise to guide others. In 2022, Mr. Sainte won Best Local Author by The Pitch magazine for his ongoing work to educate young children about emotional literacy. Mr. Sainte holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he also obtained a Master of Social Work. Throughout his years in the field, Mr. Sainte has helped individuals and families through challenging times. He is constantly inspired by his two children and looks forward to one day seeing the heroes they are meant to be.
